PLIDA Italian Language Proficiency Certificate

The Centro Dante in Lisbon is a Certifying Centre for the PLIDA exam, the Italian Language Proficiency Certificate issued by the Dante Alighieri Society and recognized by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Labour and Education, University and Research and many public and private institutions.

The Dante Alighieri Society is a founding member of the CLIQ Association (Italian Language Certificate of Quality – Agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Certification Bodies) and PLIDA is among the 4 internationally recognized diplomas for certifying knowledge of the Italian language.

The PLIDA exams certify competence in Italian as a foreign language and test the ability to use the language at different levels of complexity, from level A1 to level C2 of the Common European Framework of Reference.

Learning Italian isn’t just about speaking, writing, reading and listening, it’s also about being able to use this knowledge in your own life on a professional level. This is where PLIDA comes in.

PLIDA certification allows
– indicate your level of knowledge of Italian in your curriculum vitae in the most transparent way;
– apply to Italian universities and institutions of higher artistic, musical and choreographic education (AFAM), sending the PLIDA certificate corresponding to the level required by the individual universities or colleges. With the PLIDA level C1 certificate, foreign doctors can participate in the call for admission to medical specialization schools.
– obtain Italian citizenship, in the case of an application by marriage, if you meet all the requirements by presenting a B1 level certificate.
– apply for the long-term EC residence permit (residence card) can present the PLIDA level A2 certificate (ministerial decree of June 4, 2010).

The PLIDA exams for adults include levels A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2. The PLIDA Junior exams are aimed at teenage students aged between 13 and 18. They require the same general language skills as the PLIDA exams for adults, but the tests are constructed taking into account texts and contexts of language use familiar to children of this age. The exam levels offered in the PLIDA Junior certification are A1, A2, B1, B2.
